Summary: A calm evening at home. For the drabble prompt "absentminded massage."

-----------

There was something soothing about the quiet stillness of the night, a fire burning merrily in the fireplace and dancing lights floating adrift in the air around them, lighting up the room with just the right amount of light to read by.

Caleb turned the page, reading aloud from the storybook Essek had pulled from the shelf and asked him to read. He translated from Zemnian into Common as he went, turning pages as his voice filled the hushed evening air. Essek was curled up on the opposite corner of the plush couch, his legs tucked under him as he sipped from a glass of wine. A small smile tugged at the corner of his mouth as he gazed openly across the short distance at Caleb through his long lashes.

Caleb shifted and stretched out his long legs on the cushions between them. His toes poked at Essek's side, making the elf twitch and huff out a laugh. He sent the glass of wine floating down to settle on the table beside him with a flick of his wrist. He ran a hand up Caleb's leg, stilling the wizard's teasing movements. Caleb only faltered briefly in his reading as Essek's hands settled on his bare feet, the warmth of his fingers like embers on a fire. Caleb went on reading as Essek's fingers dug into the sore muscles of his feet, teasing out the knots and pain from being on his feet for too long and leaving a satisfying ache in their wake. Caleb was entranced by it, entranced by this man he was so lucky to have found in his life.

He went on reading. Essek rescued his wine from the table and continued to run his fingers across Caleb's muscles, the pressure lessened but ever-present as he listened to Caleb's voice. The dancing lights flitted and bounced in the air around them.

Safe. Together.

At peace.

Tadashi was exhausted as he made his way home well after midnight from meeting after meeting he’d needed to attend in Ainosuke-sama’s stead that day. Every muscle that could ache did, and he wanted nothing more than to crawl into bed the second he got home to his ensuite in Ainosuke-sama’s mansion. His tie was already half-tugged off, hanging limply from his neck, when he opened his eyes and blinked in surprise.

“Mal, if you're being a gentleman, I may die of shock.”

That simple statement played back and forth in his mind, the soft expression on Inara’s face. It was too much, hit a little too close to home, and so he joked as he always did. Buried that soft smile and pleasure at his words with pursed brows and annoyance.

One thing that Viktor learned very early on in his relationship with Yuuri was that he wasn’t necessarily a horny drunk, he wasn’t a sad drunk, no. Viktor’s boyfriend was the sloppiest of drunks who always loved to show off, even when he wasn’t capable of doing whatever feat he thought he could while drunk—other than pole dancing, for some unfathomable reason.

Summary: Here’s the thing Yuri loved about acting: it was a complete escape from reality for him. Onstage, he could be anyone he wanted to be, and the stage was set, unchanging. He lost himself in those moments. He wasn’t the irritable, tiny twenty-two-year-old who pushed people away rather than let them get close to him. He could be a circus performer, or Puck, or even, yes, peppy little Winnie Foster, who was so full of life and wanted to explore outside the walls of her home and was excited about the world.

Yuri scanned over the final cast list and cursed loudly. Wouldn’t it be just his luck to be cast alongside that idiot? He snorted, all too happy to know that JJ would be playing the comic relief for most of the show. Yuri wouldn’t have to act alongside him very much, either, from what he remembered of the script. He looked through the list again, tapping a finger on the name of his love interest.
Otabek Altin….now why did that seem familiar? Yuri knew most of the professional actors who worked in the city, and a name like Otabek Altin is uncommon enough that he should remember meeting him.
